CITY GUIDE
Find cigars in San Francisco.
There are 42 active cigar-relevant places across San Francisco, but they are not all the same kind of stop. If you want a real humidor or lounge, start around the Financial District, Union Square, Polk Gulch, North Beach and Lower Nob Hill. If you just need to grab a cigar nearby, the neighborhood shops stretch much farther across the city.
GO DEEPER
A few useful ways to explore San Francisco.
Ali Baba Smoke Shop
Smoke Shop · North Beach
A late-hours North Beach smoke shop for a quick cigar run, with cigarettes, pipes and the usual smoking accessories filling out the shelves. Come here for convenience more than a destination humidor.
Amador Club
Private Club · Financial District
A private Financial District club with a ventilated indoor cigar lounge. This is a members-club kind of smoke, not a walk-in cigar shop.
Broadway Cigars & Liquors
Cigar Shop · North Beach
A North Beach cigar-and-liquor stop with a better cigar bench than the storefront might suggest. It is one of the more useful places in the neighborhood when you want both a bottle and a cigar.
California Smoke Shop
Cigar Shop · Lower Nob Hill
A Lower Nob Hill cigar shop with a real humidor and a premium, boutique-leaning selection. The shop feels more cigar-focused than the average neighborhood smoke store.
California Tobacco Center
Cigar Shop · Polk Gulch
One of the city’s deeper cigar shops, with a walk-in humidor and a broad premium selection on Polk. If you want time to browse instead of grabbing whatever is behind the counter, start here.
Castro Smoke House
Smoke Shop · Castro District
A neighborhood smoke shop on Castro Street that keeps cigars in the mix with cigarettes and other tobacco products. Handy for a quick pickup if you are already in the Castro.
Cheaper Cigarettes
Cigar Shop · Sunset District
A straightforward Sunset tobacco shop that also sells cigars. This is more quick-stop retail than cigar destination.
Cigar Bar & Grill
Cigar Bar · Jackson Square
One of the few places in the city built around making a night of it: food, drinks and a cigar-friendly outdoor setup in Jackson Square. Better for sitting down than simply buying a stick and leaving.
Cigarette City
Smoke Shop · Fillmore District
A Fillmore smoke shop with cigars alongside cigarettes and general tobacco. Best for convenience, not for a deep humidor browse.
Cigarette Depot
Smoke Shop · Richmond District
A Richmond District smoke shop that carries cigars with the usual tobacco and smoking supplies. Useful if you are nearby and need something without crossing town.
Cigarettes Cheaper - Geary
Smoke Shop · Lower Nob Hill
A no-frills Geary Street tobacco shop with cigars in the mix. Think quick neighborhood stop rather than premium-cigar shopping.
Cigarettes R Cheaper
Smoke Shop · Richmond District
A Richmond District smoke shop with a little more cigar signal than the name suggests, including a manufacturer-linked brand in the shop’s record. Still a general tobacco store first.
City Smoke & Gift Shop
Smoke Shop · Mission
A Mission smoke-and-gift shop where cigars share shelf space with the broader smoke-shop assortment. Good for convenience; not a place to plan a cigar-shopping trip around.
Cole Street Smoke Shop
Smoke Shop · Cole Valley
A late-running Cole Valley smoke shop that explicitly carries cigars. It is a useful neighborhood option when the cigar shops downtown are already closed.
Dean's Fine Cigars
Cigar Shop · Union Square
A proper Union Square cigar shop with a walk-in humidor, premium selection and a boutique streak. This is one of the better downtown stops when you actually want to browse.
Discounts Cigarettes & Cigars
Cigar Shop · Chinatown
A compact Chinatown cigar-and-tobacco shop selling cigars alongside cigarettes, pipes and other smoking gear. More neighborhood retail than lounge experience.
F & M Smokes & Wine
Smoke Shop · Yerba Buena
A Yerba Buena smoke-and-wine stop where you can pick up a cigar without making a dedicated tobacconist run. Convenient, mixed retail, and easy to understand.
Haight Street Tobacco
Smoke Shop · Cole Valley
An old-school Haight tobacco shop with cigars alongside the broader tobacco selection. Worth knowing if you are in the neighborhood and do not need a full lounge or walk-in humidor.
House of Cigarettes
Smoke Shop · Crocker-Amazon
A Crocker-Amazon tobacco shop with cigars, cigarettes and smoking supplies under one roof. A practical local stop rather than a cigar destination.
Kami Smoke Shop
Cigar Shop · Lower Pacific Heights
A Lower Pacific Heights smoke shop with a real cigar offering, but without much public detail on the humidor itself. Better for a nearby pickup than a planned premium-cigar hunt.
Koheba Gifts & Smoke Shop
Smoke Shop · Duboce Triangle
A Duboce Triangle smoke-and-gift shop that keeps cigars in the mix with general smoking products. Convenient, late, and neighborhood-oriented.
Mission Smoke Shop
Smoke Shop · Mission
A Mission District smoke shop with cigars alongside cigarettes and accessories. It fills the quick-pickup role more than the browse-for-an-hour role.
O'Farrell Liquors
Lower Nob Hill
A Lower Nob Hill liquor store that also carries cigars, with at least one manufacturer-linked cigar in the mix. Useful when you want the bottle and the cigar in one stop.
Occidental Cigar Club
Cigar Lounge · Financial District
The most complete cigar-first stop in the city: indoor smoking, a humidor, a full bar and a deep brand mix in the Financial District. If you only have time for one San Francisco lounge, this is the obvious place to understand the scene.
Puff Puff Pass
Smoke Shop · Haight-Ashbury
A long-running Haight smoke shop with cigars mixed into a much broader glass-and-accessories business. Easy late-hours option, but not a dedicated tobacconist.
Sam's Cable Car Lounge
Cigar Bar · Union Square
A Union Square cigar lounge with a walk-in humidor, drinks and food in the middle of one of the city’s busiest visitor districts. More sit-down lounge than simple retail counter.
SF Deli & Wine
South of Market
A SoMa deli-and-wine shop with a surprisingly real cigar history. It is not a tobacconist in the classic sense, but it has carried recognizable premium names over the years.
SF Smoke N' Vape
Smoke Shop · Fisherman's Wharf
A Fisherman’s Wharf smoke-and-vape shop that also sells cigars. Useful when you are already on the waterfront and do not want to trek downtown for a dedicated cigar shop.
Smoke Plus
Smoke Shop · Castro District
A late-hours Castro smoke shop with cigars alongside the broader tobacco selection. More about convenience than humidor depth.
Smoke Signals Newsstand
Smoke Shop · Russian Hill
A Russian Hill newsstand and smoke shop with a humidor tucked into the mix. It is a quirky neighborhood cigar stop rather than a destination tobacconist.
Smoke Time
Cigar Shop · Mission
A Mission cigar-and-smoke shop that clearly sells cigars but keeps its inventory mostly offline. Worth a nearby stop, though there is not enough public detail to shop the humidor from your phone first.
Super Smoke
Smoke Shop · Crocker-Amazon
A Crocker-Amazon neighborhood smoke shop with cigars, glass and tobacco products. Straightforward local retail, not a lounge.
The City Club of San Francisco
Private Club · Financial District
A private Financial District club with its own ventilated cigar lounge. Think members-club smoking room, not public cigar bar.
The Humidor
Cigar Shop · Financial District
A small but serious cigar shop inside Embarcadero Center, with a humidor and recognizable premium names. A convenient Financial District stop when you want quality without leaving downtown.
The Underground Smoke & Gift Shop
Smoke Shop · Polk Gulch
A Polk Gulch smoke-and-gift shop where cigars sit alongside glass, pipes, hookah and vape products. Better for a quick cigar pickup than a dedicated humidor visit.
Tobacco Barn
Cigar Shop · Civic Center
A classic Civic Center tobacco shop with cigars, pipes and smoking accessories. It has more old-school tobacconist energy than the average modern smoke shop.
Total Wine & More - Harrison Street
Cigar Shop · Mission District
The Harrison Street Total Wine has an in-store cigar humidor, making it a practical one-stop if you are already shopping for wine or spirits. Selection can vary, so this is more convenience play than cigar pilgrimage.
Val de Cole
Cole Valley
A Cole Valley mixed retailer that sells cigars alongside the rest of its neighborhood assortment. Handy local stop with at least one manufacturer-linked cigar signal.
Valencia Exotic Cigars & Liquors
Cigar Shop · Mission
Despite the name, this Mission liquor-and-convenience shop is not a dependable premium-cigar destination. Cigar selection appears limited and inconsistent, so go in expecting a mixed neighborhood shop rather than a serious humidor.
Vendetta Men's Apparel & Vintage Cuban Cigars
Cigar Shop · Nob Hill
One of the strangest and most interesting cigar stops in the city: a menswear shop inside the Fairmont that also deals in rare vintage, pre-embargo Cuban cigars. There is even a small smoking room.
Walla's Smoke Shop
Cigar Shop · Mission
A Mission cigar-and-smoke shop with a straightforward neighborhood setup. Good for a local pickup, though the brand mix is mostly kept off the web.
Zingari Ristorante + Jazz Bar
Restaurant · Union Square
A Union Square Italian restaurant and jazz bar that occasionally builds cigars into special events. Do not come expecting everyday cigar service; think dinner-and-cigar programming when an event is on.
