HERFIO GUIDE

Where to have a cigar and a cocktail in San Francisco.

The cigar-and-cocktail overlap is surprisingly small here. A couple of places do it well; the rest are either private, outdoor-only or tied to special events.

THE SHORT VERSION

Occidental is the cleanest answer: it is actually a cigar lounge and actually has a full bar. Sam’s is another real lounge-and-drink option near Union Square. Zingari only belongs in the conversation when one of its cigar events is happening.

1

Occidental Cigar Club

Financial District

The cleanest cigar-and-cocktail answer in town because neither half of the equation is an afterthought.

The most complete cigar-first stop in the city: indoor smoking, a humidor, a full bar and a deep brand mix in the Financial District. If you only have time for one San Francisco lounge, this is the obvious place to understand the scene.

Sam's Cable Car Lounge

Union Square

A true lounge-and-bar setup rather than a restaurant that occasionally tolerates cigars.

A Union Square cigar lounge with a walk-in humidor, drinks and food in the middle of one of the city’s busiest visitor districts. More sit-down lounge than simple retail counter.

Worth knowing: The online brand list is thinner than the physical humidor experience.

Zingari Ristorante + Jazz Bar

Union Square

Worth watching for cigar dinners and special events, not for an everyday cigar-smoking policy.

A Union Square Italian restaurant and jazz bar that occasionally builds cigars into special events. Do not come expecting everyday cigar service; think dinner-and-cigar programming when an event is on.

Worth knowing: Cigars are tied to specific events, not normal nightly service.

How we made this list: We only include places where the drink program and the cigar experience overlap at the same venue. Special-event cigar nights are labeled as such instead of being presented like an everyday policy.

Editorial picks are separate from paid placement. Policies, hours, and cigar inventory can change, so the individual place pages show the underlying research and verification details.
