HERFIO GUIDE

Where to find cigars late in San Diego.

The Gaslamp owns the late-night end of San Diego’s cigar scene, but Hillcrest and Old Town keep a few options alive after a normal tobacconist would be done for the day.

THE SHORT VERSION

If it is already late, downtown is the easiest bet. Cesar’s and Cuban Cigar Factory run into the early morning on weekends, Gran Havana keeps another lounge option open, and The Tobacco Shoppe works when what you need is retail. Cigar Cave and The Art of Cigar give you alternatives outside the Gaslamp.

Gaslamp Quarter

Another Gaslamp lounge that stays open well past normal retail hours, giving downtown more than one place to keep the night going.

4

Cigar Cave

Hillcrest

Hillcrest alternative with hours that reach midnight or later on the back half of the week, useful when downtown is not where you want to end up.

Hillcrest cigar lounge with late hours, useful when you want a sit-down cigar option after the traditional tobacconists have started closing up.

Cigars sold

Worth knowing: The strongest reason to choose it here is the lounge-and-hours combination, not documented inventory depth.

The Art of Cigar

How we made this list: We compared current weekly hours with each place’s cigar use case. Later closing times help, but the list still favors places that are meaningfully useful for cigars rather than generic late-night smoke shops. Hours can change, so check the place profile before making a special trip.

Editorial picks are separate from paid placement. Policies, hours, and cigar inventory can change, so the individual place pages show the underlying research and verification details.
